Coo coo for coconut

It seems everyone is on the coconut oil wagin right now and I'm pleased to say I was on that wagon before it was the wagon to be on!

Coconut is such an amazing all in one beauty product for the inside and out. First off, I absolutely love the smell and taste of coconut. Anything coconut, I must have. My first experience with coconut beauty products was the body shop coconut lip butter which I've been using for about 4 years now. It is still to this day one of my favorite lip treatments for over night. I've also been using Lush's curly wirly shampoo for about 2 years which is basically just a jar of coconut shavings. With both of these products I've noticed 2 things:the scent and the moisturizing properties. I don't know of a scent that lasts longer than coconut. I have this theory that sweet scents last the longest, and anything citrus scented fades the fastest... So naturally coconut to me smells amazing all day long which is a huge plus for me. But I had no idea how moisturizing coconut was until I tired these products!! Especially having dry curly hair, I tell ya, amazing.

Now... What I didn't know was that you can actually just buy pure coconut oil that is unbeached and unrefined and use it any way you see fit. I'm going to go over 7 ways that I use my coconut oil.

1) drink it!! Yes it's oil, so it doesn't completely mix in and it's not the best tasting... But add a small amount into your tea once a day and you'll hydrate your body from the inside out!!

2) face mask!! Apply overnight for the cheapest and most amazing overnight facial ever!!

3) body lotion! This makes your skin so super shiny and smell amazing! Just remember, this is an oil so don't use too much.

4) fly always! Use a very small amount on dry hair to tame any fly always and to add an amazing shine and scent.

5) cuticles! Use coconut oil instead of cuticle oil! It's cheaper, hydrates the nails and did I mention the scent?

6) In the sun! Use coconut oil for light delicious sun screen.

7) hair mask! This is my favorite thing and by far what I use about 90% of the jar for. Rub a large amount of oil in your hand then rub on to the ends of your hair. Concentrate on the ends and the dry parts. Once they are coated, comb through your hair with your fingers. This will add a little oil to the roots and top pieces of your hair without making it too oily or greasy. Throw your hair up into a bun and go to sleep. Shampoo (maybe even twice) out in the morning and follow with conditioner!

Change is good

Sometimes things happen in life that you're not prepared for... sometimes its good and sometimes is terrible. Ive recently learnt that its how you deal with these situations that truly defines you as a person. So Ive decided to take something positive from this change and focus all my energy on it. So far... I'm pleased to say that I'm staying very positive and enjoying the change.

House to Home

I'm soon moving to a downtown apartment that I've been interested in for years. I'm excited for this change in my life. Ive lived alone before and have had a lot of furniture passed down to me, and I will always be grateful for that. This time however, I'm fortunate to be at a time in my life where I feel I'll finally be able to get some new furniture and decorate my home in a way that truly inspires me. I want to walk in and immediately feel happy, calm, and peaceful. The carpet and walls in my apartment are all white, so I'm working with that as a base. I want everything bright! Here are a few pieces I am looking at for my living room:

The bar stool and lamp are from Target, the couch is from The Brick, and the table and bookshelves are from ikea.

As you can see I'm using white as a base, and adding in other light colours such as grey and blue. I'm very excited to see how it all turns out and I will show you all more updates once I begin the move :)
